WASHINGTON – The National Cooperative Business Association said it will launch the new cooperative top-level domain (.coop), on January 30 of next year. This gives credit unions about seven weeks to reserve domain names. NCBA will offer the new domain through its wholly-owned subsidiary, DotCooperation LLC. Last month, DCLLC and CUNA formed an agreement for CUNA member CUs to reserve their names prior to Jan. 30. This deal is special for credit unions. The majority of other cooperatives won’t be able to begin registration until Jan. 30. NCBA President/CEO Paul Hazen urged credit unions that are eligible to reserve names before they are taken.
