ALBANY, N.Y. – Campus Credit Union Council Executive Director Bradford Caldwell testified at a New York State Senate Public Forum organized to give concerned parties the opportunity to voice their comments, concerns and recommendations on legislation that's been introduced pertaining to the direct merchandising of credit cards on the SUNY and CUNY campuses in the state. Sen. George Maziarz (R-Niagara), the sponsor of the introduced measure, organized the event. Senate Bill 1232 would limit the direct marketing of credit cards on those campuses. In his comments, Caldwell said credit unions feel credit card companies are not taking enough responsibility to help students use credit without falling into a credit trap.
