TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Aletta Shutes, executive vice president of the Florida Credit Union League was appointed by Gov. Jeb Bush to a position on the Florida Commission on Human Relations. Shutes will succeed Sharon Ofuani for a term beginning on Nov. 7 and ending Sept. 30, 2005. Her appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate. The Florida Commission on Human Relations is a state agency established by the Florida Human Rights Act of 1969 for the express purpose of enforcing the state’s anti-discrimination law. Positions on the commission are voluntary and members do not receive any compensation. Prior to working at the FCUL, Shutes served for more than 30 years in Florida government, including four years as Secretary of the Department of Administration. She has served with FCUL for the past eight years.
