SANTA ANA, Calif. – Up until last month, Orange County's Credit Union offered mortgage products to its 53,000 members through third party vendors. Now the $538 million CU has formed a mortgage CUSO, PrimeDirect Mortgage, that will offer a full-range of mortgage products, including fixed and adjustable rate mortgages, Federal Housing Authority (FHA) loans, home equity loans and lines of credit, and first-time home buyer programs. PrimeDirect will operate out of Orange County's Stadium branch. To celebrate the opening of the new CUSO, Orange County's CU is offering members a special promotion that allowed them to save $300 on closing costs on a minimum home loan of $100,000 until Dec. 31, 2001. Orange County's CU is a community-chartered CU. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, or worships in the county.
