Changed name to XCEL FCU in 1993. * President/CEO: James Wisnieski: “One thing I’ve learned from all this is how resilient my staff and the members are. What great dedication they both have to the credit union.” * Who XCEL serves: Port Authority of N.Y. and N.J. employees; employees from a number of state and federal agencies, including the Social Security Administration, the Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Small Business Administration; and others. The CU even serves some NCUA employees in its region. The XCEL FCU name was chosen because it’s catchy and doesn’t make one FOM come to mind, said Wisnieski. “We wanted to pick a name that was positive and with no connotations as far as who we served. As my wife says, `we suceeded immensely.’ “
