WASHINGTON-Consumer Federation of America (CFA) Executive Director Stephen Brobeck cheered CUNA’s work in the Renaissance Commission in a recent letter to the credit union trade association. He wrote that CFA was “particularly pleased” with the specific statement of credit unions’ cooperative, non-profit nature and their dedication to serving those of modest means. “[T]he Consumer Federation of America wishes to commend CUNA and the entire credit union community for seeking to develop a long-term vision for the credit union movement and for being responsive to many points of view within the community,” the letter read. Brobeck also offered CFA’s assistance in pursuing the Renaissance goals. After more than a year of compiling information, CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Committee has whittled down the various recommendations to four vision statements to be voted on during CUNA’s Board meeting October 30.
