WASHINGTON-Despite increased concern over anthrax discoveries around Capitol Hill, a reception on the Senate side of the Capitol for NCUA Chairman Dennis Dollar went on as planned. Mississippi Republican Senators Trent Lott and Thad Cochran hosted the event. The event was in honor of Dollar's recent appointment to chairman of NCUA. While a few invitees begged off for fear of anthrax exposure, the reception still had an excellent turn out, Dollar said. While only one Congressman attended the function, several Senators were on the scene. An anthrax-contaminated letter was discovered in Senator Tom Daschle's office early last week, which lead to the closing of the Senate office buildings. A suspicious envelope also arrived at House Speaker Dennis Hastert's office, which caused the House to recess at least through next Tuesday while environment sweeps were performed.
