NEW YORK – The National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions’ Fourth National Faith-Based Credit Union Conference will go on as planned at the Radisson Hotel, Birmingham, Ala, on Nov. 9-11. NFCDCU Executive Director Cliff Rosenthal said the federation recognizes that some people may be reluctant to travel and this may cut into attendance at the conference. “However this conference is very much about the power of faith to restore and heal society. Our leadership is committed to getting the message out,” said Rosenthal. NCUA Chairman Dennis Dollar will keynote the conference. NFCDCU’s headquarters in lower Manhattan is located just blocks away from “ground zero” of the destruction of the World Trade Center. The office was enveloped in smoke and debris from the collapse of the Twin Towers and it was put out of service for about a week when a power substation and telephone lines were destroyed by the blast. NFCDCU was also without mail service for two weeks. Fortunately, no staff members were hurt.
