SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Due to September 11′s terrorist attack, NACUSO’s Trust Services Fall Leadership Conference which was originally scheduled to be held in Kapokei, Hawaii September 19-21, has been rescheduled. It will be held Nov. 4-6 in conjunction with the association’s CUSO 101 conference at the Coronado Island Marriott Resort in San Diego. Both conferences will be offered in their entirety in separate meeting rooms with the exception of the Golf Tournament, the Incidental Powers Panel Discussion and the Welcome Reception on Sunday, which will be open to all participants. Attendance at all other conference sessions will be limited to those registered for that particular conference. Sessions for the Trust Services Fall Leadership Conference will cover topics such as: evaluating alternative business models for trust services; the tax implications of trusts; and the organization and operation of trust departments and their profitability. The conference will also focus on revised CUSO and credit union regulations that are scheduled to be finalized soon and how these changes will affect CUSOs. NACUSO President Bob Dorsa said all but one of the speakers scheduled to address the conference during its original date, are expected to speak at the newly scheduled conference. The CUSO 101 conference will focus on the implications of NCUA’s passage of its Incidental Powers Rule on CUSOs and federal credit unions – what are the risks involved for a FCU to offer the services themselves; are the risks best managed through a CUSO; what is the beneficial mix?
