LATHAM, N.Y. – The New York Credit Union League is collaborating with the New York State Psychological Association (NYSPA) to offer group-counseling sessions to assist persons affected by September 11′s terrorist attack with recovery. Psychologist members of NYSPA have volunteered to conduct sessions at no charge with credit union staff from over 30 Manhattan credit unions. More than 700 staff members are eligible to participate. Each group of no more than 10 persons will meet with the same psychologist over the course of several sessions. Mary Ann Bourgeois, vice president of human resources for the league said the sessions will take place in four different locations throughout Manhattan. Exact locations have not yet been determined. While there has been no reported loss of life or serious injury among credit union staff in Manhattan, “the impact on the spirit and minds of our credit union colleagues, especially those who witnessed the terrible events or their immediate aftermath, is incalculable,” said NYCUL President/CEO Bill Mellin. – [email protected]
