Moo-ving toward International CU week

LANTHAM, N.Y. – International Credit Union Week celebrations here are going to the cows. As part of an innovative, fun way to enjoy the festivities, Cabot Creameries, a dairy farmer cooperative popular in New England and New York, has joined forces with the New York Sate Credit Union League to offer free commemorative souvenirs to New York credit unions for giveaways. Cow coin banks and special “celebrate co-ops” coupons, good for a free bar of Cabot cheese at major grocery stores have been created by Cabot and are branded with both the CU and Cabot logo. New credit union members, and those members who add new services to their accounts will be eligible to receive the cow-bank and coupon. “We think this promotion will be seen side-by-side with CUNA’s `Catch Our Spirit’ celebration,” said League Vice President of PR & Marketing Kathy Febraio. “Adding a little fun will enhance the event for everyone, and personalize it for our New York credit unions.” To promote the event, league spokespersons will extol the benefits of credit unions and other cooperatives on television and radio morning talk shows and newspaper features in seven major New York markets. International Credit Union Week takes place this year Oct. 15-20.
