CARLSBAD, Calif. – Arizona Central Credit Union here recently completed the installation of Blue Point Solutions’ Receipt Manager product. Receipt Manager allows member signatures to be electronically captured at the teller window, and eliminates the need to keep paper copies of all member receipts as dictated by state and federal regulations (see related story page 22). In early 2000, Arizona Central was forced to assess its current process involving teller receipts which included scanning thousands of pages of teller work to comply with regulatory standards. Mary Ann Hughes, vice president of Information Technology at Arizona Central, said the product is especially helpful when a teller is balancing their drawer. “If a teller’s drawer is short $20, he or she can search for all $20 transactions, instead of having to look through a pile of work,” she said. There’s also a privacy benefit of electronic receipts, said Hughes. “We used to generate a two-part receipt that the member signed, one for the member and one we kept in storage. Now, we no longer have a piece of paper floating around with a member’s name, account number and signature on it. It’s one less way for member information to get out and helps to provide confidentiality for member information while reducing our in-house paper.”
