SAN DIMAS, Calif. – If there's one thing that's plentiful in the credit union industry, it's conferences, which in turn means a bounty of conference speakers. One corporate isn't taking chances with the speaking skills of its potential speakers. The $16 billion WesCorp is conducting workshops for WesCorp employees, mostly executives, to be part of WesCorp's Speakers' Bureau. The Speakers' Bureau will include WesCorp execs who can act as expert presenters at credit union conferences on a number of different topics. Areas of expertise include strategic management, investments, asset/liability management, marketing and human resources. In the workshops, speakers will learn about speech preparation and delivery, and focusing on the audience to deliver an effective message. WesCorp President/CEO Dick Johnson said this is about polishing the presentation skills of the corporate's experts. "We want to make sure that when we speak in the public forum, we are not only prepared but also able to deliver our message clearly and effectively," said Johnson. WesCorp has called on Dr. Rebecca Weintraub, Director of the Center for Corporate and Community Education at the Annenberg School for Communication in Los Angeles, to conduct the workshops.
