FORT WORTH, Texas – "This is clearly an act of hate and it's sad to see that this is what the world has come to," said John Tippets, president/CEO of American Airlines Employees FCU. Two of the hijacked flights were American Airlines' flights. Tippets vowed that the credit union will play a role in the healing process. "We mourn for all those who have lost their lives and mourn with all of those who have lost their loved ones. We (the credit union) will be a source of comfort and assistance to all our members in any way possible," he said. In an e-mail to all AAFCU employees, Tippets tried to keep up the spirits of the credit union. "Even though we are all upset with the happenings in our nation, please remember to try and remain calm and continue our daily functions as much as possible. May we be a source of comfort and reassurance to our fellow AA employees and AA credit union members. My gratitude to everyone of the credit union staff for all of the good you do. We will be tested in coming days and weeks but I know we will rise to the occasion. My personal love and prayers for all." An account has been set up at American Airlines FCU to accept donations for relief efforts. Checks should be made payable to: AAFCU for The American Red Cross. Reference account No. 831353927. Donations can also be dropped off at any AAFCU branch.
