HARRISBURG, Pa. – The $1.6 billion Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union is taking the paper out of its online home banking sign-up process through the use of e-signature authorization. Prior to this, PSECU members could fill out an application online, but they would later have to sign a paper document. Now to sign up PSECU members visit the CU’s site (www.psecu.com), and complete a short form that asks for their member number, PIN, date of birth and e-mail address (if they have one). The members must then read and agree to three disclosures. One disclosure is agreeing to receive disclosures electronically; the second is the CU’s home banking agreement; and the third is a bill pay Reg E disclosure, said Rick Long PSECU’s vice president of ITS. Once that is done the member will be presented with another screen that includes a randomly generated home banking password, which they can eventually change. For security reasons, the CU requires members to input their member number, PIN (for audio response), and online banking password before gaining access to the home banking system. Long said the agreed upon member disclosures are stored in the CU’s Symitar core processing system. In just the first few days after its launch, 113 PSECU members used the new authorization process to sign up for home banking.
