As busy and dedicated as credit union staff and volunteers are, never doubt that they also have a life beyond their jobs. Our editorial staff was so convinced that readers would find occasional, after hours, personal tidbits about credit union people so interesting that they recently created a new Credit Union Times feature titled, appropriately enough, "Credit union people: Beyond the job." The first time it appeared was in the Aug. 15, 2001 issue. The second time is on page three of this issue. After reading the first two offerings, readers may decide they too have something interesting to share, either about themselves, or one of their credit union colleagues. We encourage you to let our editorial staff know about the fun little items that put a human face on someone who is usually thought of only in a credit union context. As readers can see from the first two columns, editors aren't looking for the type of information already well covered in Credit Union Times in the "People" or in the "In other news" sections which are featured in every issue. Nor is "Beyond the job" the place for full-blown feature stories of individual personal and professional accomplishments. For that we already after ongoing features entitled, "Billionaires," "Movers and Shakers," "Where are they now?" and "After Hours." So what interesting things do you or your CU friends do when not living and breathing credit unions? We'd love to hear from you. – [email protected]
