JAMESBURG, N.J. – The $3.9 billion Empire Corporate FCU's New Jersey item processing site was recently moved from Hightstown to Jamesburg. The new operations site has 9,500 square-feet of space, a training room for member use, and state-of-the-art computer and check processing rooms. The site's floor plan was designed with an uptick in item processing expected by the corporate. "With the increase in check processing volumes and anticipated member volumes we needed a facility that allows for significant growth while increasing our processing efficiencies," noted Nancy S. Virkler, Empire's vice president of Payment Systems. The corporate processes approximately 18 million items a month out of its three processing facilities, combined. The New Jersey site alone processes approximately 5.5 million items a month. A member Open House celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Monday, October 22, 2001. Empire Corporate serves over 1,000 credit unions primarily in the Northeast.
