WASHINGTON-According to a recent comment letter from CUNA, the lobby group is in support of a NACHA proposal on the usage of electronic affidavits, authorizations, and records in conformance with the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (E-Sign). "CUNA supports clarifying that those electronic or written statements made under penalty of perjury will be accepted for the affidavit requirement. This clarification should help those financial institutions in states that require notarization of affidavits," CUNA's comment letter read. The proposal would also facilitate the use of electronic agreements and electronic storage of records and allow credit unions and their members to conduct business by efficient electronic means.
