Members 1st Federal Credit Union, Mechanicsburg, Pa., has raised $14,300 during its annual golf tournament for the Allied Arts Fund, a united fund for local arts and culture. The AAF serves 45 arts and cultural organizations for the residents of central Pennsylvania. Members 1st FCU has $630 million in assets and serves more than 82,00 members. SELCO Credit Union, Eugene, Ore., has raised more than $2,000 during the SELCO CU/Enterprise Rental Car Sale to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Emerald Valley. The non-profit group was to receive $25 for every car sold and if more than 40 cars were sold, the donation would double. Members bought a total of 41 cars. During the event, potential buyers were served hot dogs and soda, and while parents took test drives, children visited the Kitty Kat clubhouse. SYNERGY ONE Federal Credit Union, Manassas, Va., has raised over $4,000 for the March of Dimes. The mission of the March of Dimes is to eliminate infant mortality and birth defects. Three employees volunteered as captains for the Walk America. One oversaw the walk team, another captain ran the Blue Jeans for Babies program, and the third managed the sale of paper sneakers. SYNERGY ONE FCU has $120 million in assets and serves 19,500 members. Dallas Telco Federal Credit Union employees rolled up their sleeves for the third year in a row to help beautify downtown Dallas during Earthfest 2001 Clean-Up. Sponsored by the Downtown Improvement District and Keep Dallas Beautiful, EarthFest is a volunteer clean-up and beautification event. Dallas Telco FCU employees participating in Earthfest 2001 include Tammy Chambers; Frances Gaines; Melissa Huffman; Dana Lovette; Patricia Morris; Dee Mosley; Jackie Phillips; Emily Styrsky; and Penni Weldon. The team of nine spent the afternoon sprucing up the West End by planting bushes, repainting fences, and rejuvenating flowerbeds. Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union, Media, Pa., employees have teamed up for the second year to help fight Multiple Sclerosis by taking part in the Mason-Dixon Ride for M.S. Participants rode their bicycles along the 25-mile trail that went through Middletown, Delaware and Chesapeake City, Maryland. The national Multiple Sclerosis Society is dedicated to ending the devastating effects of the disease. FMFCU has over $220 million in assets and serves over 40,000 members. Lackland Federal Credit Union, San Antonio, Texas, and 13 other credit unions joined forces for the seventh annual Credit Unions for Kids Bowl-a-Thon. A record $13,891.11 was raised to benefit the Christus Santa Rosa Children's Hospital. Over 400 adult and child bowlers occupied 72 lanes at Bandera Bowl for an afternoon of fun and music. Motorola Employees Credit Union-West, Scottsdale, Ariz., has raised over $1,000 for United Cerebral Palsy. In exchange for donations employees received an official Tees-n- Jeans sticker and T-shirt, which they wore to work with jeans. United Cerebral Palsy's mission is to advance the independence, participation and full citizenship of people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. MECU-West has $510 million in assets and serves over 57,000 members.
