ARLINGTON, Va. – NAFCU President/CEO Fred Becker agrees 100% with a recent USA Today story that recommended consumers check out credit unions for great rates on CDs – but there's even more consumers should be doing with CUs, says Becker. In a letter published in the July 26 edition of USA Today, Becker said consumers can not only get great rates on CDs at CUs, but on a plethora of other financial products, including auto loans, mortgages and savings products. "Almost everyone can qualify for these rates because most Americans are eligible to join a credit union – whether through their employer, community or religious organization," Becker wrote. Becker advised readers to find out if they are eligible for CU membership at the NAFCU Web site, www.nafcu.org.
