ALEXANDRIA, Va.-Acting NCUA Chairman Dennis Dollar hosted a working visit with a delegation of credit union leaders from Ireland. The visit was scheduled in May after Dollar spoke at the World Council of Credit Union’s annual meeting in Killarney, Ireland. The timing of the meeting was important because in May, Ireland had just begun enacting a revised regulatory structure for credit unions. Dollar and the Irish credit union representatives then discussed future opportunities for the two groups to work together. Members of the Irish delegation included Director and Chairman of the administration committee for the Ireland League of Credit Unions John Regan, Irish League Directors Jerome Dawson and Tommy Weir, and others. Representing NCUA, aside from Dollar, were staff from the General Counsel’s Office and the Office of Examination and Insurance. Dollar called the meeting “productive,” saying that the two groups shared various approaches and NCUA offered the Irish group several standardized forms used in America, as well as their experiences.
