COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Commerce’s Division of Financial Institutions has received the accreditation of NASCUS. The designation means the NASCUS Accreditation Review Team, the Accreditation Audit Committee, and the Performance Standards Committee have concluded that the Ohio DFI meets the criteria necessary to fulfill its statutory responsibility to charter, examine, supervise, and regulate the credit unions chartered under the laws of Ohio. Ohio’s accreditation is valid for a five-year period, subject to the approval of annual evaluation update reports, which must be submitted to NASCUS. The update reports must show evidence of continued capability and performance consistent with the NASCUS accreditation standards. The Ohio Division of Financial Institutions regulates the state’s 271 state-chartered credit unions. A formal presentation will be held Aug. 1 during the Ohio Credit Union Council meeting.
