St. Mary’s Bank, Manchester, N.H., has raised $2,500 through its community outreach efforts to support the Jump$tart Coalition for personal financial literacy. The mission of the Jump$tart program is to evaluate the financial literacy of young adults; develop, and encourage financial literacy standards for grades K-12; and to promote the teaching of personal finance. Security Service Federal Credit Union, San Antonio, Texas, has partnered with Terra-Genesis Housing, Inc. and the Consumer Credit Counseling Center to support a 25-week financial literacy program designed to encourage the importance of financial stability to the underserved residents of Oak Manor/Oak Village housing communities. Residents including youth and adults attended a series of comprehensive seminars on a variety of financial topics ranging from establishing credit to budgeting. After 12 weeks residents will have the opportunity to take advantage of the credit union’s products and services related to topics covered in the seminars.
