NEW YORK – Actors Federal Credit Union has joined forces with the Lower East Side Peoples Federal Credit Union to offer members ATMs along with their next order of fries at the McDonalds on 102-106 First Avenue at 6th Street. Members of LESPFCU, a low-income designated credit union, can now enjoy the benefits of having an ATM without the CU suffering the prohibitive costs associated with sole operation. AFCU drives and operates the machine including all back-office settlement activity while income and expenses are split 50/50 by the two credit unions. "The opportunity offered to us by AFCU to join in on this machine is great. Their operational structure makes it possible to have an ATM located in such a highly visible and accessible location," said LESPFCU CEO Pablo DeFilippi. AFCU has a total of 14 ATMs here with 15 contracts currently in-hand for additional ATM placements in McDonald's restaurants, supermarkets, and drug stores. "The value that surcharge-free ATMs have added to our credit union is immeasurable," said AFCU President/CEO Jeff Rodman. "The deployment of ATMs has helped to boost our asset and membership size." AFCU has $56 million in assets and serves over 14,000 members. LESPFCU has $6.2 million in assets and serves over 3,200 members.
