JOLIET, Ill.- Who says no one ever wins those national promotions? NuMark Credit Union member Irene Lieberstein has proved all those naysayers wrong when she was named the grand prizewinner in the "Visa & The Grinch Give Back the Holidays" national promotion. Lieberstein received the highest amount – $4,142.30. Consumers were entered to win the total dollar amount purchased on their cards every time they used their Visa cards during the holiday promotion. "For once, my husband was happy that I used the charge card," said Lieberstein. "We used the card to pay for our annual holiday vacation- and this time it really paid off big! I've told everyone that they should belong to a credit union – even before I won- and now, everyone asks how they can join and win too!" A total of 500 winners had their purchases paid for by Visa during the nine-week national promotion. Since another winner failed to meet the deadline for the required verification process, Lieberstein was notified about winning late. A check presentation was held at the credit union's Joliet branch and even the Grinch himself was present for the ceremony. According to NuMark CU Marketing Director Cindy Holthaus this must just be the couple's month to win. "Irene and her husband must just have the lucky touch this month, as they also won 1.5% off their home equity loan in NuMark's "Pick Your Rate" promotion when they picked a winning flower stem from our garden of rates," said Holthaus.
