MADISON, Wis. – It is that time of year again when nominations are being accepted for the 14th Annual Herb Wegner Memorial Awards, which recognizes individual, organizational and lifetime achievement by credit unionists dedicated to the National Credit Union Foundation's mission of promoting consumer financial independence. Established in 1988, the awards honor the memory of Herb Wegner, CUNA and CUNA Service Group CEO from 1971 to 1978, who left a legacy of innovation, activism and involvement. Nominations are being accepted from both individuals and/or organizations. Current members of the National Credit Union Foundation Board of Directors are not eligible. Nomination forms and letters of recommendation must be submitted to NCUF by Friday, July 20, 2001. Once a nomination form is received, NCUF will send the nominee a Personal Information Form, which must be completed and returned to NCUF by Friday, Aug. 31, 2001. Awards will be presented at the 14th Annual Herb Wegner Memorial Awards dinner on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002 in Washington, D.C.
