I just finished reading through the May 23 issue of Credit Union Times highlighting corporate credit unions and was pleased to see Credit Union Times’ thorough coverage of all that’s happening in the corporate credit union network. I was especially taken with your editorial, “Corporates of today justify another look.” The headline really says it all. You were right to point out that corporates have evolved over the years. I believe U.S. Central and the corporate network are making great headway toward helping credit unions become consumers’ first choice for financial services. There is a reason for all this progress: It’s our strength in numbers. By working together, corporate credit unions have a cooperative strength that cannot be matched by the for-profit sector. And even though corporates do compete in some areas, the corporate network collaborates where it’s important. Whether it’s through assuring ample liquidity to the credit union system when needed, enhancing the automated settlement program that has served credit unions for more than 20 years, or jointly developing robust, consolidated delivery systems, the corporate network demonstrates its strength every day. We are always stronger when we stand together. And we’re strongest when we keep the mission and philosophy of people helping people at the forefront. Thanks for your comments.
