Riverside County’s Credit Union, Calif., has been recognized as the “Top Company to Work for” in the Inland Empire 2001 Awards ceremony. More than 620 gathered for the first-time event sponsored by the Business Press. The five-judge panel that selected the award winners was comprised of leading business school academics from Inland Empire colleges and universities. Nominees were evaluated based on essays submitted addressing their strengths in retention; work environment; employee benefits/training; employee-management communication; and customer service. RCCU, with 192 employees was judged best in the 100-999 employees category. RCCU cited a lower than national average turnover rate; a low rate of workers’ compensation claims; and a corporate-wide culture that promotes extensive professional development. “Top Company” award winners received a framed certificate and a marble trophy topped with optical glass. RCCU has $330 million in assets and serves 68,000 members. Twin City Co-ops Federal Credit Union, Roseville, Minn., has been recognized by the Minnesota Psychological Association for its workplace quality of life. The credit union received the “Psychologically Healthy Workplace” award in the not-for-profit category. This is the first year MPA has given the awards. MPA established the award to highlight the connection of workers’ satisfaction and a healthy work environment to employer’s productivity and profitability. Organizations whose workers perceive their employer is concerned about their well-being do better in recruiting and retaining outstanding employees, says MPA. The credit union scored high in all five categories, with programs and policies relating to quality of vision; employment involvement; family support; employee growth and development; and health and safety. Twin City Co-ops FCU has $314 million in assets and serves 49,425 members. Dover Federal Credit Union, Dover AFB, Del., has been recognized by the 512 Airlift Wing at Dover Air Force Base for supporting the awards program throughout the year. DFCU has been an avid supporter of this program which awards outstanding achievements by service personnel. The award is on display at the Dover Air Force Base branch.
