NCUA and Other Regulators Issue Privacy Form
11/17/2009

A form that allows consumers to limit how much information credit unions and other financial institutions can share with others, has been approved by the NCUA and seven other regulatory agencies.

The agencies have produced sample forms that credit unions can modify for their use that let members limit the instances in which data about them is shared. These allow members to prevent the information to be shared with affiliates and/or non-affiliates of the credit union for marketing purposes.

Credit unions must begin sharing these forms with members 30 days after the rules have been published.

A copy of the rules and sample forms are available at: http://www.ncua.gov/news/press_releases/2009/FinalGLBruleforposting_11-13-09.pdf
