DigitalMailer said it signed eight more financial institutions to its online safe deposit box solution in 2013 and that more than 40,000 members are now using the service at one of its largest credit union clients.
The My Virtual Strongbox service offers secured online storage for personal documents and other files. It was launched in 2012.
Ron Daly, founder and president/CEO of the Herndon, Va.-based firm, said 11 credit unions and banks now offer the online storage service to 1.2 million consumers nationwide and that nearly 7,000 CUES members now receive it as a free member benefit.
Clients range in size from $27 million in assets to more than $5 billion, DigitalMailer said in its Jan. 22 announcement. Among them is the $3.6 billion Redstone Federal Credit Union in Alabama, which offers 125 MB of storage space to its My Virtual StrongBox users as a free benefit of membership.
To date, nearly 40,000 of Redstone's members have activated My Virtual StrongBox accounts, DigitalMailer said.
Daly left his chief financial officer post at Northwest Federal Credit Union in Herndon in 2000 to launch DigitalMailer as an e-statement provider.
