Three Arizona charities are in the running for a $10,000 donation from AEA Federal Credit Union thanks to a successful car loan campaign in 2012.

The $232 million credit union in Yuma, Ariz., said it was able to award members with more than $200,000 in its Instant Cash for Car Loans campaign before the end of last year.

AEA FCU said if it reached its goal, it would write a $10,000 check to one community service organization. Competing for the donation are Crossroads Mission, Hospice of Yuma and the Yuma Community Food Bank.

Nominations for charities have been accepted on AEA's website at aeafcu.org/initiative for the past four months, according to the credit union.

Open voting for AEA's GO Direct Initiative's $10,000 Charity Donation started on Jan. 1 on the credit union's Facebook site.

"All three charitable organization finalists provide a unique and much-appreciated contribution to our community, so it was impossible for us to choose just one to receive the $10,000 donation. That's why we're opening it to a community vote," said Yanna Krause, vice president of marketing for AEA FCU.

The credit union said the GO Direct-Instant Cash for Car Loans program will continue into 2013, awarding members with up to 1% of auto loan balances in instant cash when members go directly to AEA FCU for auto financing.
