Three more credit unions have added remote deposit capture to their mobile banking offerings: the $682 million Michigan First Credit Union of Lathrup Village, Mich., the $835 million Meritrust Credit Union of Wichita, Kan. and the $219 million Superior Choice Credit Union of Superior, Wis.
Michigan First CU implemented an RDC feature for iPhone, iPad and Android mobile devices with help from Austin, Texas-based technology vendor Jwaala, as an enhancement to the credit union's existing mobile app, Michigan First CU said.
“You can't beat the convenience of snapping a quick photo with your phone to deposit a check,” said Michael Poulos, president/CEO for Michigan First CU.
Meritrust CU said a free eDeposit feature for Android and iPhone will be accessible to members through the credit union's mobile app. The credit union launched a scanner version of eDeposit, which allows members to remotely deposit checks from their homes and offices with a scanner, in summer 2012.
“Once we launched the scanner version of eDeposit, we had several members inquire about using their smartphones to remotely deposit their checks,” said Jamie Taulbee, vice president of marketing for Meritrust CU. “We knew it was coming soon and we are happy to finally provide it.”
Superior Choice CU opted to team up with Middlebury, Vt.-based electronic document solutions provider eDOC Innovations, Inc. for its RDC implementation, eDOC said. Superior Choice is the fourth credit union to offer CheckLogic Mobile, eDOC's mobile check deposit platform, to smartphone-toting members, the company said.
