Wright Patman Congressional Federal Credit Union announced the election of James Kaelin as chairman of its board.
Kaelin replaces James Molloy, who stepped down after serving 37 years as chairman. Kaelin is the chief information officer for the office of the sergeant at arms of the U.S. House of Representatives. Kaelin started his career with the House in 1988, working in the office of the doorkeeper and has been a credit union volunteer since 1998.
"I look forward to continuing Congressional's focus on meeting the diverse needs of our membership with innovative financial products and services, while remaining committed to our traditional safe and sound business practices," Kaelin said.
Patricia Neslon Nugent was elected vice chair, replacing Carlton Jenkins, who had been vice chair for 19 years. Both Molloy and Jenkins will continue to serve on the board.
Nugent is principal at the OB-C Group and was a member of the senior staff for the Committee on Ways and Means from 1985-1994. She has been a credit union volunteer since 1998.
MCT Federal Credit Union Adds Three New Supervisory Committee Members
The MCT Federal Credit Union board of directors has recently appointed three new supervisory committee members: Eileen Steinkraus, Janet Williams and Roger Pisha.
All three supervisory committee members currently work for Montgomery County Public Schools or are recently retired from the school system.
Steinkraus retired from MCPS in 2006 after working for the school system for 37 years. She worked for 20 years at Blair High School, where she saw the influence of MCT's in-school branch. Steinkraus also served on Rockville, Md.-based credit union board of directors from 1984 to 1998.
Pisha serves as a supervisor for MCPS' office of shared zccountability. He and his staff of auditors perform a risk analysis of MCPS, and give recommendations to leadership on activities reviewed. Pisha works with the Maryland State Department of Education and the Office of Public School Construction Program on school system audits. Additionally, Pisha and his staff ensure that schools comply with federal, state and local laws, along with MCPS policies and regulations.
Williams is the senior accountant with the division of controller of MCPS. In this role, Williams develops, maintains and reviews business and system processes. Before joining MCPS in 2001, Janet worked in a diverse range of accounting environments for over 20 years, including not-for-profit environmental organizations, small business government contracting and public accounting. Williams is a firm believer in the strength of credit unions.
Rounding out the MCT FCU supervisory committee are Chairman Simon Seaforth and Karen Wassman, who are both MCPS employees.
The Golden 1 Names Two to Board
The Golden 1 Credit Union has appointed Keri L Thomas and Ting Lan Sun to its board.
"Keri and Ting have displayed great leadership in the Sacramento area," said The Golden 1 President/CEO Teresa Halleck. "The two bring extensive and varied experience to the Golden 1 board of directors. We look forward to their contributions to the credit union."
Thomas has spent the last decade working in the health care industry. She has managed the development of processes that have reduced costs and helped increase the level of care that patients receive. Thomas holds a bachelor's of science degree in exercise and sports science from Oregon State University and a master's degree in public policy and administration from California State University, Sacramento.
"This new position on the board of directors will be challenging and rewarding," says Thomas. "I look forward to contributing to the success of Golden 1 in the coming years." Sun currently serves as director of educational programs for Natomas Charter School, which she co-founded. She owns an education consulting firm providing guidance for Cambridge Education. Sun holds a master's of arts degree in education from Stanford University and a doctorate in education from the University of California, Davis.
